Meet the partners: Coldiretti

For more than 75 years, Coldiretti has been a leading voice for Italian agriculture.

As the country’s largest agricultural organisation, it represents farmers, producers, and rural communities across the entire agri-food chain. Its mission is to protect agriculture, promote fair value chains, and strengthen the social role of farming in Italian society.

Rooted in rural communities, Coldiretti works to ensure that agriculture remains not only economically viable but also socially responsible. By supporting farmers, encouraging sustainable practices, and advocating for fair conditions throughout the supply chain, the organisation contributes to resilient rural economies and stronger connections between producers and communities.

Expertise in inclusion and safe workplaces

Coldiretti brings extensive experience in supporting agricultural enterprises, including a strong focus on gender equality and women’s empowerment in farming. Through Donne Coldiretti, its dedicated network for women in agriculture, the organisation promotes equal opportunities, safe working environments, and inclusive rural development.

Its work connects social responsibility with economic sustainability, recognising that thriving agricultural systems depend on fair working conditions, respect for diversity, and inclusive opportunities across the entire agri-food sector.

Turning agriculture into a tool for empowerment

Coldiretti has demonstrated its commitment to inclusion through a variety of initiatives that link agricultural production with social impact. One example is the Libeera project, the first beer produced through an entirely female agricultural supply chain. Part of the proceeds from the project supports organisations assisting women who have experienced violence.

In addition, Coldiretti has developed social farming networks that use agricultural activities to promote inclusion, empowerment, and support for vulnerable groups. These initiatives show how agriculture can go beyond production to become a tool for community support, recovery, and opportunity.

A vision for a more inclusive wine sector

Coldiretti joined the Grapes of Change project because of its strong belief that gender equality is essential for the future of agriculture. The organisation believes that gender equality in agriculture is not an optional goal, but a foundation for sustainable growth and fair work. Cultivating equality means cultivating the future of rural communities. With Grapes of Change, Coldiretti is committed to transforming principles into concrete action in the wine sector.

Through the partnership, Coldiretti hopes to contribute to a wine sector that fully recognises and values women at every stage of the supply chain. For the organisation, agriculture is not only about production—it is also about culture, identity, and responsibility toward communities. Promoting inclusion means strengthening rural areas, improving workplace conditions, and building a more sustainable future for the entire agri-food system.

By working together through Grapes of Change, Coldiretti aims to help create vineyards and wine businesses where equality, respect, and opportunity are firmly rooted.
