“Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls”
This year the International Women’s Day 2026 calls for action to dismantle all barriers to equal justice: discriminatory laws, weak legal protections, and harmful practices and social norms that erode the rights of women and girls.
Globally, women hold only 64% of the legal rights enjoyed by men. In many countries, discriminatory laws still limit property rights, employment opportunities, freedom of movement and protection from violence. Even where protections exist, enforcement gaps persist — and hard-won rights are increasingly under pressure.
These realities have implications across all sectors — including wine.
The wine industry does not operate outside social and legal systems. Inequality, underrepresentation and tolerance of harmful practices reflect broader structural conditions.
Grapes of Change was created to address these challenges within the wine value chain. Through research, dialogue and practical tools, the project works to support safer workplaces, prevention and training, transparent reporting systems and more inclusive leadership.
We align with the IWD 2026 call by working towards:
- Zero tolerance for gender-based violence
- Clear and enforceable workplace protections
- Accessible and trusted reporting mechanisms
- Greater female representation in decision-making roles
- Cultural transformation through awareness and training
When women are not equal under the law, they are not equal in practice. A resilient and competitive wine sector requires justice, safety and equal opportunity to be embedded across its value chain. Grapes of Change exists to translate these principles into practical change.
Rights must be protected. Justice must be actionable. Equality must be cultivated.
