Grapes of Change showcased at Sicily on Wine to promote gender equality in the wine sector

The Grapes of Change project was presented at Sicily on Wine, an international event held from 15 to 17 June 2025 in Chiusa Sclafani, Sicily, bringing together wine producers and global industry players to support the internationalisation and sustainable development of Sicilian viticulture.

Organised by Sicindustria in collaboration with Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), the event welcomed 21 Sicilian wine producers and buyers from seven countries across three continents in more than 200 targeted business-to-business meetings, providing a platform for small and medium-sized wineries to enhance export opportunities and build international partnerships.

While Sicily on Wine primarily aimed to strengthen export capacities and international visibility for local producers rooted in tradition, quality and sustainability, it also featured a dedicated space highlighting Grapes of Change. In Sicily, the project’s objectives received active support from Associazione Nazionale Le Donne del Vino, represented at the event by delegate Roberta Urso, underscoring the importance of collective engagement in advancing workplace equality within the sector.

During the opening days of Sicily on Wine, project partners and event organisers reinforced the idea that supporting the internationalisation of Sicilian wineries goes hand in hand with building inclusive, equitable working environments. As noted by Luigi Rizzolo, President of Sicindustria and SFC, the event aimed to unite commercial expansion and cultural change for a more sustainable future.

By showcasing Grapes of Change at a major commercial platform, the initiative gained visibility among producers, industry stakeholders and international buyers, highlighting how social innovation and gender equality are integral to the evolution of the European wine sector.
